This renovation was extensive and special in that it was for an owner who is paraplegic, confined to a wheelchair. All access points to the house needed to be made ADA accessible, which meant a front entrance ramp, a new front door, an elevator lift from the garage to the first floor and the basement, a raised floor for the sunroom, and backyard ramps and pathways. On the interior, doorways were widened, new wood floors for easy rolling were installed, and the kitchen was completely renovated to insure this owner could reach all her equipment and ingredients, work at a large open island counter space, and sit at the sink and stovetop. Other modifications included adding ceiling structure to accommodate an automated track lift to connect from the bed to the bath/shower/dressing table, new accessible bathroom, new lighting fixtures, and new interior finishes. In the backyard a new paver patio was installed, furnished with raised planter beds. It opened off of the bedroom and connected to the existing modified sunroom patio, a gardening shed, and the garage.
