PROJECT OVERVIEW

Prairie Forge Group (PFG) was retained by John and Linda Rozema to solve the extreme settlement of their home, which was exhibiting evidence of severe differential settlement in excess of three inches. The project consisted of identifying and resolving the foundation settlement/movement of their home. Prairie Forge Group first investigated many areas of the foundation to identify the cause of the problem. Then structural and geotechnical engineering investigations were conducted and reviewed by Prairie Forge Group. Groundwater conditions, poor soils, and underground utilities were all reviewed as the potential source of the problem. PFG then studied, analyzed, and developed a solution: to jack the house up to load-bearing strata onto piers and stabilize it from further movement, settlement, and additional damage to the structure. PFG provided oversight to all phases of the project—including design, bidding, and construction—to ensure that the work was performed in accordance with design standards. The work was successfully completed on time and within budget.
